1.a:A It was my cousin’s birthday and my mum suggested that I call him to wish him a happy birthday. I rang the number and as soon as he picked up I started singing ‘Happy birthday to you’ really loudly. Once I’d finished I shouted: ‘and have a really

great day’. Imagine my horror when I heard someone saying: ‘I think you have the

wrong number.’

B We were playing cricket at school and I’m not really the sporty type so, when it was

my turn to bat, I just swung and hoped for the best. As usual I missed the ball but I managed to let go of the bat. It went flying through the air and guess what, it hit my teacher right on the head!

C My dad’s a teacher at my school. One day in assembly he was using his laptop and a projector to show everyone pictures he had taken at a school event. When he had finished he closed the programme and to my horror the background was a picture

of me lying on the sofa in my pyjamas. Everyone burst out laughing, even Dad. I

could’ve killed him.

D The night before sports day I decided to put on some fake tan cream so I wouldn’t

look so white. The packet said the cream would make my skin go a lovely golden

brown colour. It took a really long time to put the cream on, and I thought I was very

careful not to put too much on my arms and legs. But the next morning my skin was

bright orange. I had to wear shorts and a T-shirt all day. It was so embarrassing. The

worst thing was that no one said anything to me, they just giggled and looked away.
