







正谷与瑞士巧克力合作伙伴以及洪都拉斯农业研究所 FHIA 合作探索建立复混林生态系统(Agroforestry Ecosystem)[13],它涉及可可,果树和用材树的混合种植,并近似模拟了可可的原始雨林栖息地生态。
可可树与一年生粮食作物(如玉米和木薯)、多年生植物(如香蕉和芒果)或珍贵木材类树木(如桃花心木和雪松)一起生长于该生态系统中。各种植物相互受益:高大的植物提供遮荫,可可在阴凉的灌木丛中生长得更好。养分需求高的植物会得到邻近植物的养分供给与支持。在这种栽培模式中所产生的有机物,保留在地面上并成为天然肥料。农林复合系统是对土地更高效的利用,并保护了土壤生态与生物多样性,同样也给农户带来了更高的产量与收入。

Cavell黑巧克力于2012年获得碳中和认证,由正谷与瑞士巧克力合作伙伴,对可可原料、加工、包装、运输、配送以及消费后废弃包装的产品全生命周期碳排放进行核算,并通过在秘鲁圣马丁和亚马逊的植树造林项目进行抵消。1盒Cavell黑巧克力(100g/盒)的碳排放总量为210.1g,而每盒Cavell黑巧克力的碳汇成本约为0.02元。温室气体排放量由独立的气候基金会-myclimate[14]进行计算与核查。
依托全球性可持续项目PUR Project[15],正谷与巧克力生产伙伴估算下一年需要抵消的温室气体排放量。PUR Project联合当地农户一起提前种植足够可以吸收对应排放量的树木。然后再根据实际情况从PUR Projet购买相应数量的CO2证书。该项目中的每位农户和每棵树木都在种植登记册中注册。此外,种植的树木通过GPS注册,因此可以使用代码通过Google Earth定位每棵种植的树木。所有未成活或已经死掉的树苗将会被替换。
