意大利葡萄酒的多样性一直是迷人而又烦人的存在。二十个各有特色的产区与三百多个常用的葡萄品种，足以提供各种应接不暇的排列组合。对于爱好者来说这是无穷无尽的乐趣，对于普通消费者而言却是无边无际的迷宫。

The diversity of Italian wine has always been fascinating and daunting at the same time. Italy is home to 20 distinctive wine-producing regions with over 300 common grape varieties. For a wine connoisseur, the overwhelming number of mix and match offered by Italian wines produce infinite joy. However, to an ordinary consumer, it is an endless maze.

连续三年的意大利葡萄酒进口数据的增长，说明市场对于意大利酒的接受面越来越宽。（相比较去年疫情时，截至今年上半年，意大利葡萄酒进口量增长了约15%，进口额也增长了33%）。过往对于意大利葡萄酒一味求全、求广的作风，显然已经不适应市场的快速发展。进口商们也逐渐沉淀下来，愿意花时间重点发展真正有价值，符合市场趋势的品牌。

The increase in importation of Italian wine three years in a row has shown the growing acceptance of Italian wine by the market. (Compared to the data in 2020 when the pandemic was rampant, by the end of this June, the import volume of Italian wine has increased by 15% and the import amount by 33%.) Importing a great variety of wines from Italy has been an outdated approach of doing business that can no longer keep up with the rapid development of the market. As a result, with patience, importers are willing to spend time developing truly valuable brands in line with the market trend.

这次我们就把目光集中在最引人瞩目的意大利老牌产区皮埃蒙特(Piedmont)。作为意大利的精品产区，在整体消费下行的大环境下，五年间依然有4.5%的增长率（另一个有此表现的是勃艮第Burgundy，五年增长率为3.1%）。其中子产区Barolo更是逆势上扬。

This time, we are shining the spotlight on the most prominent and classic Italian wine-making region, Piedmont. When the overall consumption drops, this Italian region of fine wine has still managed to reach a 4.5% growth rate over the past five years. (The only other region that has achieved a similar growth rate is none other than Burgundy, at 3.1%.) Its sub-region Barolo has also enjoyed a robust increase despite the sluggish market over the same period of time.

On the 22nd of October, Pudao will jointly hold a Connoisseur Workshop on Piedmont Fine Wines with Merak Chan. We’d like to present the diversity of Piedmont wines and how Nebbiolo’s grape expresses itself in different terroirs as thoroughly as possible by comparing the Barolo wineries and between Barbaresco and Barolo. We’re going to invite representatives from 10 distinguished wineries to taste 20 wines with us and help you look beyond etiquette and grasp the philosophy of wine-making via telecommunication.
