Before we bought Lot 462 in Light Pass, Barossa Valley, our winemaker Ben had made many vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon from a very special vineyard in Adelaide Hills. 

As it goes, years later, on a cold winter night, the grower and the owner shared with us a stellar line of wines. That night, our roads crossed, and the tradition continues.

We knew then and there that a cool climate cabernet was the perfect introduction to our range of wines. Typical of Adelaide Hills, our Roadscross displays hints of blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, notes of tobacco, and aromas of violet. A wine to enjoy anytime.

Lot 462 is the story of three great wine men, and an amazing vineyard: 

Blair Hayden, the manager, with 30 years of experience in the craft brewing industry and owner of the oldest pub in Australia, 

Ben Chipman, the award winning winemaker (2014 Peoples Choice in the Young Gun of Wines Award), and 

Langdon Farrelly, the commercial mind, coming from reknown companies such as Moet Hennessy and Howard Park. 

These three men found what they believed to be one of the greatest vineyards in Barossa: a small piece of land with very old vines of Shiraz and Grenache, located in Lot 462.

The Lot 462 winemaking philosophy is simple: small parcels of fruit, hand-crafted through a simple and relatively non-interventional approach with the aim to truly reflect the individual characteristics of the vineyard and variety.  Lot 462 wines are made with old world simplicity in a new world of wine. 

The Barossa has a legendary reputation for its wine, and in particular for its generous, intensely flavoured Shiraz. The region’s first wines were produced in 1842. The Barossa offers friendship and warmth, idyllic landscapes and hand-crafted wines. It is a place of family, friends, tradition and laughter, and you are welcome to share the Barossa story.
