Then one day a chameleon has an idea to remain one color forever by staying on the greenest leaf he can find. But in the autumn, the leaf changes from green to yellow to red . . . and so does the chameleon. When another chameleon suggests they travel together, he learns that companionship is more important than having a color of his own. No matter where he goes with his new friend, they will always be alike.

李欧·李奥尼（Leo Lionni, 1910-1999），美国儿童文学作家、画家，出生于荷兰阿姆斯特丹。尽管李奥尼开始创作绘本时已经49岁，他却开创了一个绘本的新时代，他笔下的故事生动有趣又富含哲理，被誉为“二十世纪的伊索”。其代表作《一寸虫》、《小黑鱼》、《田鼠阿佛》、《亚历山大和发条老鼠》分别于1961年、1964年、1968年及1970年荣获美国凯迪克大奖。
Leo Lionniwrote and illustrated more than 40 highly acclaimed children’s books. He received the 1984 American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal and was a four-time Caldecott Honor winner—for Inch by Inch,Frederick,Swimmy, and Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse. Leo Lionni died in October of 1999 at his home in Tuscany, Italy.
