孙武（前545年—前470年或前496年）妫姓，孙氏，名武，字长卿，春秋时期齐国人，陈胡公的直系后代，知名军事家、政治家，兵家代表人物。兵书《孙子兵法》的作者，后人尊称为孙子、兵圣、东方兵圣，山东、苏州等地尚有祀奉孙武的庙宇兵圣庙。其族人为乐安孙氏始祖，次子孙明为富春孙氏始祖。

莱昂内尔·吉尔斯（1875-1958）是一位英国汉学家、作家和哲学家。莱昂内尔·吉尔斯曾担任大英博物馆助理馆长和东方手稿和印刷书籍部负责人。吉尔斯知名的译作是 1910 年翻译的《孙子兵法》和《论语》。

Sun Wu (545 BC - 470 BC or 496 BC) was a native of Qi during the Spring and Autumn Period. He was a direct descendant of Chen Hugong, a famous strategist, politician, and a representative figure ofstrategists. He was the author of thebook "The Art of War". Later generations revered him as Sun Tzu, theSaint, and the EasternSaint. There are still temples dedicated to Sun Wu in Shandong, Suzhou, and other places. His clan is the ancestor of the Sun family in Le'an, and his second son Sun Ming is the ancestor of the Sun family in Fuchun.

Lionel Giles (1875 – 1958) was a British sinologist, writer, and philosopher. Lionel Giles served as assistant curator at the British Museum and Keeper of the Department of Oriental Manuscripts and Printed Books. Giles is most notable for his 1910 translation of The Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Analects of Confucius.
