El Lissitzky (1890–1941) was one of the leading figures of the Soviet avant-garde and a pioneer of Constructivism, graphic design, typography, architecture, and modern visual culture. Since 1919, he maintained close connections with the Swiss art scene, and during his stay at a sanatorium in Ticino in 1924–25, he produced some of the most significant works of his career. This period marked a decisive chapter in his artistic development while profoundly influencing the evolution of Swiss modernism.

This volume is the first comprehensive study of Lissitzky's relationship with Switzerland. Organized around themes including architecture, typography, graphic design, artistic theory, and cultural exchange, it examines his creative activities and intellectual legacy during his Swiss years. Richly illustrated with masterpieces from Swiss museum collections—including previously unpublished material from the Musée d'art et d'histoire in Geneva—the book offers new perspectives on his lasting contribution to European modernism.
