The book, published jointly with the Canal Foundation, traces Fernandl é ger's artistic career through his editorial work for Arthur Rimbaud, Cirque and les Illuminations, as well as works by his contemporaries, such as Picasso, Juan Gris and Marcel Duchamp. The Search of a New Order shows the key and evolution of L é ger's works. L é ger is an artist dedicated to changing the world, and his artistic expression is based on finding a new plastic language adapted to the new reality.

Leger believes that aesthetic feeling does not only exist in the specific artistic creation, it exists in people's daily life and mechanical installations and manufacturing. So the artist actively interacts with the world around him and constantly experiments in various forms of painting. Leger spent an hour watching how a clerk arranged seventeen vests in the window. He believes that the behavior of the shop assistants may only be done for commercial purposes, but such an arrangement also unconsciously reveals everyone's instinctive aesthetic, and what Leger pursues is the simple art of modern life.
