老子姓李名耳，字聃，一字伯阳，或曰谥伯阳，春秋时期人，生卒年不详，籍贯也多有争议。老子为道学派创始人和主要代表人物，与庄子并称“老庄”。被尊为道祖，称“太上老君”。《庄子》又称《南华真经》，《列子》又称《冲虚真经》，与《道德真经》合称三真经，被奉为主要经典。

黄柱华是一位学者和作家。他近期的作品起初于 1993 年由 Quill (William Morrow) 以《孙子兵法新译本》为名出版，随后于 2008 年以《孙子兵法》为名重新出版，并被选为 HarperCollins 的年度现代经典。自首次出版以来，该书已售出超过 125,000 册。

Laozi's surname was Li, his given name was Er, his courtesy name was Dan, and his other courtesy name was Boyang, or his posthumous name was Boyang. He lived in the Spring and Autumn Period. His birth and death years are unknown, and his native place is also controversial. Laozi is the founder and main representative of the Taoist school. Together with Zhuangzi, he is called "Lao Zhuang". In Taoism, he is revered as the ancestor of Taoism and is called "Taishang Laojun". In Taoism, "Zhuangzi" is also called "Nanhua Zhenjing", "Liezi" is also called "Chongxu Zhenjing", and together with "Daode Zhenjing" are called the Three Zhenjing, which are regarded as the main classics by Taoism.

J.H. Huang is a scholar and author. His most recent work was initially published as Sun-Tzu: The Art of War, The New Translation by Quill (William Morrow) in 1993, and then republished as The Art of War: Sun-Tzu as a HarperCollins Perennial Modern Classic in 2008. It has sold over 125,000 copies since its initial publication.
