美国的五指湖区接壤加拿大的安大略省，早在19世界50年代，安大略湖冰川消融后形成的冰河深沟附近就出现了葡萄藤种植产业。因为气候寒冷严酷，更耐寒的美国本土葡萄品种显然是最初的最佳选择，但随着气候的变化和更深入的科学研究，一些有野心的种植者开始尝试去种植早熟的欧洲种葡萄嫁接在美种砧木上，并获得成功。现如今，雷司令、黑皮诺、霞多丽和威代尔等适合冷凉气候的葡萄在五指湖区遍地开花，大放异彩。

4月15日，来葡道静安门店，纽约葡萄酒基金会顾问Matthew McFetridge先生将作为讲师，带您品鉴来自五指湖区的三个AVA产区的八款葡萄酒，届时您将了解到湖水效应对这个产区的影响，掌握代表葡萄品种在这里的典型风格。更重要的，您将在葡道结识到有颜有才的Matthew和一众热爱探索葡萄酒世界的小伙伴们！

The Finger Lakes region of the United States borders Ontario, Canada. As early as in the 1950s, the vine cultivation industry emerged near the steep glacial gully that was formed by the melting of Lake Ontario glaciers. Because the climate is bitterly cold and sternly harsh, the more cold-resistant native American grape varieties, originally, were obviously the best choice. However, with climate changes and more advanced scientific research, some ambitious growers have begun to try to nurture early-maturing European grapes for them to be grafted on the U.S. rootstocks. It was a successful effort. Today, grapes suitable for cold climates such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Vidal are blossoming in radiant splendor everywhere in the Finger Lakes region.

On April 15th, come to Pudao Wines’ Jing'an store. Mr. Matthew McFetridge, consultant of the New York Wine Foundation, will serve as a speaker and a lecturer, who can take you to taste eight wines from the three AVA regions of the Finger Lakes. Here, you can learn about the influence of the production area and master the typical style that represents the grape varieties here. More importantly, you will meet Matthew, who is incredibly talented, and a group of friends who love to explore the world of wine!

Matthew McFetridge先生生于美国纽约州的五指湖区，曾在昆明和北京工作过，于2016年定居上海。曾任职于一家意大利上阿迪杰产区的Franz Haas酒庄，担任过三年的亚太区出口经理。目前，他在纽约葡萄酒基金会担任亚太市场顾问一职已有四年。Matthew在2017年获得WSET高级品酒师资格，目前在攻读四级文凭。

Matthew McFetridge is a native of the Finger Lakes in New York State, and relocated to Shanghai in 2016 after short stints in Kunming and Beijing. Currently he is the Asia-Pacific Market Consultant for the New York Wine & Grape Foundation for 4 years, and Asia-Pacific Export Manager for Franz Haas Winery in Alto Adige for the past 3 years. Matthew passed his Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 2 in 2016 and his WSET 3 in 2017 and is currently a Diploma student (fingers crossed!).
