Step-Up Grammar is a series of six workbooks for pupils aged 6-11. The aim is to develop a thorough understanding of English grammar in a systematic way. Each book contains 18 units on difference topics, from individual words to full sentences. The pupils learn how to talk about words (with terms such as “auxiliary verb” and “present continuous tense”) and how to put them together correctly. The later books the series build on knowledge gained earlier, examining some of the topics in great depth and introducing new ones.

Rosalind Fergusson, a former teacher, has spent 25 years compiling a wide range of language related reference books. She has contributed to Chambers School Spelling (2003), Cassell Dictionary of English Idioms (1999), Macmillan Guide to English Grammar (1998), among others.
