History of the Winery

Bortolomiol由朱利亚诺-博尔托洛米尔 (Giuliano Bortolomiol) 于1949年创立,尽管其家族历史可以追溯到1760年。极具酿酒天赋的朱利亚诺追随他父亲的脚步和家族酿酒事业,并在著名的科内利亚诺葡萄酒学校(Conegliano Wine School)学习。


Bortolomiol was founded by Giuliano Bortolomiol in 1949, although the family tradition can be traced back to 1760. Giuliano Bortolomiol followed his father’s footsteps and family tradition with a natural gift for winemaking. He studied at the prestigious Conegliano Wine School.

In the 1960s, Giuliano was the first to make a Brut Prosecco, believing that with very low residual sugar Brut’s the best form of Prosecco, at a time when Extra Dry and Dry Proseccos dominate.

Terroir & Philosophy

Bortolomiol酒庄位于意大利威尼托(Veneto)大区的瓦尔多比亚德尼(Valdobbiadene),在科内利亚诺-瓦尔多比亚德尼超级普罗塞克(Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG)产区的中心,处于意大利东北部的丘陵地带,海拔在70至450米之间。该酒庄也一直是超级普罗塞克产区中质量的标杆。
The Bortolomiol winery is located in Valdobbiadene of Veneto in Italy, in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG denomination area which is a hilly land in north-east Italy and has an altitude between 70 and 450 meters above sea level. The winery has always been a point of reference on the Prosecco Superiore panorama.

Behind this territory lies the Treviso Prealps. The mountains can protect vineyards from cold north-east winds as a natural barrier and ensure that only mild winds reach the DOCG hills and thereby create good climate for vine growing.

Sixty-five million years ago the area was entirely covered by sea which has left the soil unique in types. The origin of this area’s soils can be traced to three types:

  • Sandstone and marl soils (present at the highest altitudes of the northern area)

  • Soils of morainic origin (generated by the melting of the Lapisino branch of the ancient Piave glacier)

  • Cement and sandy conglomerates (present in the whole southern band of the territory and originating from rocks of the time between 5.3 and 2.5 million years B.C)

The diversity of the soil structure is also one of the key factors that contribute to the excellent quality of the Prosecco from this appellation. As a pioneer in organic planting, the Bortolomiol family also focus on the philosophy of sustainability and environmental protection in the vineyards. They decided to convert all their vineyards to organic in 2011.

From Grapes to Wines

科内利亚诺-瓦尔多比亚德尼产区的主要葡萄品种是格雷拉(Glera)(最初名为Prosecco,后来在2009年重新命名,以避免与普罗塞克酒混淆)。
The main grape variety in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene is Glera (first named Prosecco, then renamed in 2009 to avoid confusion with the wine Prosecco).

The steep slopes of the hills mean that all the work in the vineyards must be carried out by hand. Glera has found an ideal environment in these hills. It is in fact in this area that the grape has always performed at its best and it is from here that the universally recognized quality has developed.

大部分Bortolomiol的普罗塞克葡萄酒都采用了Charmat酿造法。初次发酵是在温控条件下与酵母一起进行的,发泡持续25-30天,然后在瓶中陈酿1-3个月。
The Charmat method is used for most of the Bortolomiol Proseccos. The primary fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with yeasts, foaming for 25-30 days and then aging in the bottle for 1-3 months.
