BradfordwrotemuchofhisofPlymouthPlantationinthemidstoftheevCntshedescribed.Hestarteditin1630,tenyearsaftertheMayflowervoyage,beginninghisstorywithanaccountofthesmallgroupofPurit’“‘wh0migratedfromEnglandtoAmsterdamandthentotheNewWorld.ThesimF,licityandearnestnessofthebook,withitsdirectreporting,makeitreadablCandmoving.Inadditiontothisbook,Bradfordleftawealthofletters.otherprosewritingsaboutthecolony,andevenanarrativepoem.
Shortlybeforehisdeathin1657,hewroteasummationofhislifeoffaithinsimpleverses,beginning:
