内容提要：  
本书为《当代世界与中国》的英文版。当代世界是开放的世界，中国的发展离不开世界，世界的发展也离不开中国。本书从全球视野出发，将当代中国的发展置于世界发展全局中予以考察，诠释了世界各国与中国是紧密联系、相互依存、互为机遇的人类命运共同体。本书依托当代中国发展的生动实践，立足五千年中华文明，分别从经济、政治、文化、社会、生态、科技、和平发展等七个维度，通过中外比较与互动，阐明了中国始终是世界和平的建设者、全球发展的贡献者、国际秩序的维护者，深度体现了中国在与世界互联互动中的天下胸怀和大国情怀。

作者简介：  
主编：曹文宏，华侨大学教授、博士生导师、马克思主义学院副院长。主要社会兼职有国家社科基金项目评审、鉴定专家，教育部学位与研究生教育发展中心评审专家，福建省大中小思政课一体化建设指导委员会委员等。长期从事高校研究生、本科生马克思主义理论以及境外生通识教育的教学与研究工作。  
译者：陈文革，博士，华侨大学外国语学院教授、博士生导师。主要从事话语分析与功能语言学、词典学与语言政策等研究。在《外语与外语教学》、《当代传播》等国内CSSCI检索期刊等SSCI和A&HCI双检索期刊上发表论文20余篇，在国际期刊发表一系列词典话语研究论文，出版中文专著1部，在国际上首次较为系统地提出批评词典话语研究模式。主持2项国家社科基金项目，主持并完成2项省部级科研课题。担任国内外多家学术期刊审稿人。

港澳台侨学生通识教育课程系列教材建设是华侨大学港澳台侨学生人才培养模式改革背景下课程与教材改革的重点工作之一。《当代世界与中国》《中华文化概要》《中华民族复兴简史》是第一批先行改革的三本中文通识教育教材，旨在通过针对性的教材编写，提高学生对中国文化的认知，增强学生对中华民族复兴历程以及当代中国的了解，向学生展现真实立体、可信可爱可敬的中国，并引导学生做好真实中国的国际传播工作。  
为进一步贯彻华侨大学“为侨服务，传播中华文化”的办学宗旨，提高学生用英语“讲好中国故事”的能力，在上级主管部门的领导下，华侨大学组织骨干教师将上述三本中文通识教育教材翻译成英文。英文版港澳台侨学生通识教育课程系列教材可供英语专业学生和具有一定公共英语基础的大学生使用，同时也可作为通俗性读本供知晓英语、正在学习汉语的港澳台侨读者和外国读者学习中国文化、了解当代世情与中国国情时使用。将英文版与中文版配合使用，可以进一步提高读者的英汉语言与文化的比较能力、表达能力。  
《当代世界与中国》一书旨在将港澳台侨学生培养成自觉拥护祖国统一、拥护“一国两制”、为港澳长期繁荣稳定和实现祖国和平统一作贡献的坚定爱国者，将华侨华人学生和来华留学生培养成了解和热爱中华文化、对华友好、主动担当中外交流的文化使者。本书从全球视野出发，将当代中国的发展置于世界发展全局中予以考察，从经济、政治、文化、社会、生态、科技、和平发展等七个维度，通过中外比较与互动，阐明了中国始终是世界和平的建设者、全球发展的贡献者、国际秩序的维护者，深度体现了中国在与世界互联互动中的天下胸怀和大国情怀，充分诠释了世界各国与中国是紧密联系、相互依存、互为机遇的人类命运共同体。
