António Maçanita is an important name in the Portuguese wine world, releasing more than 50 labels each year. In addition to Maçanita Vinhos, a Douro project together with his winemaker sister Joana, he is the winemaker for Fitapreta Vinhos, in Alentejo, as well as Azores Wine Co, based on the island of Pico. He also consults on a number of other projects throughout the country.

With the passion for wine, he had practiced in many important wine region like California, Bordeaux or Australia. In 2002 António Maçanita worked directly with Charles Thomas at the Rudd Estate winery - winemaker at Mondavi and Opus One for 15 years, two of the wineries that revolutionised Napa Valley wines, and learnt a lot from him.

2018 年， 他 被 Revista dos Vinhos 评 为 年 度 酿 酒 师， 2021年，Fitapreta Vinhos被Revista dos Vinhos 评为年度生产商。

In 2018, he was named Winemaker of the Year from Revista dos Vinhos, and in 2021 Fitapreta Vinhos was named producer of the year by the same publication.
