关于葛饰北斋

葛饰北斋（1760～1849）的一生充满了传奇色彩。他自幼有“写物形状之癖”，十几岁时拜入木版印刷雕刻师门下，19岁入浮世绘师之门。北斋曾在护国寺庭院—百二十叠敷的纸上画了一个大达摩，在一粒米上画两只小麻雀，因此而轰动江户。1817年，北斋在西挂所（西本愿寺名古屋别院）的院内广场上，将一千八百八十张纸拼合，在人山人海中，来了一场“Live Painting（现场作画）”。据说，他只用了数分钟，就完成了巨幅达摩像。

一生改名约30次，迁居次数达93次之多，不受流派、样式和传统的拘束，在绘画上一心执着于追求自我表达的葛饰北斋，醉心画业七十年。终其一生，北斋创作了约3万多幅画作，不论是风景画、美人画、花鸟画，还是风俗画，无不信手拈来，称得上是一位丰富多彩的奇才。他的绘画风格对欧洲画坛影响巨大，德加、马奈、梵高等印象派大师都曾经临摹过他的画作。由于北斋多变的画风、丰富的画题，且博学多识，从自然科学到文学历史都有所涉猎，所以常被人称为“东洋的列奥纳多·达·芬奇”。

Courtney Watson McCarthy is a paper engineer and graphic designer. With a degree in Theatrical Scenic Design, she worked as a model builder and designer in a variety of fields before discovering the magic of movable books. She is a member of the Movable Book Society and SCBWI.
