Puffin Clothbound Classics is a series of much-loved stories from classic children's literature, brought together by Puffin Books in beautiful hardback volumes.

Penguin began publishing this series in late 2019, with decorative series bindings created by Penguin designers. The books in this series have been selected by Penguin’s editorial team to include classic children’s stories to inspire a lifelong love of reading – they focus particularly on English and American novels. To date, many of the titles include reprints of novels in the earlier ‘Puffin Hardback Children’s Classics’ series in a more deluxe binding.

The series features the full unabridged texts of each book as originally published, full cloth covers with generous gilt accents and bound-in satin ribbon bookmarks.

Many of the books also include black and white illustrations from earlier editions, as well as thoughtful introductions from contemporary children’s authors. The cover designs are pretty (they include repeating motifs drawn from the story), and they present a delightful glittery and brightly colored rainbow of spines on the shelf.

作者简介

安托万·德·埃克苏佩里（Antoine de Exupery, 1900-1944）1900年6月29日出生在法国里昂。他曾经有志于报考海军学院，未能如愿，却有幸成了空军的一员。1923年退役后，先后从事过各种不同的职业。

1926年，圣埃克苏佩里进入拉泰科埃尔航空公司。在此期间，出版小说《南方邮件》（1929）、《夜航》（1931），从此他在文学上声誉鹊起。1939年，又一部作品《人的大地》问世。

第二次世界大战期间他重入法国空军。后辗转去纽约开始流亡生活。在这期间，写出《空军飞行员》、《给一个人质的信》、《小王子》（1943）等作品。1944年返回同盟国地中海空军。在当年7月31日的一次飞行任务中，他驾驶飞机飞上湛蓝的天空，就此再也没有回来。

Writer and aviator Antoine de Exupery (1900-1944), was born into an aristocratic French family at the turn of the century. Exupery was preoccupied with aviation from a young age; a passion which would lead him into the French Air Force. His first two books, Southern Mail and Night Flight, are distinguished by a poetic evocation of the romance and discipline of flying. Later works, including Wind, Sand and Stars and Flight to Arras, stress his humanistic philosophy. Exupery's popular children's book The Little Prince is also read by adults for its allegorical meaning. In 1944,Exupery's plane disappeared during a mission in World War II.
