美国南亚裔文学作品选(美国亚裔文学研究丛书)
《美国南亚裔文学作品选》从跨学科与跨文化视野考察美国南亚裔文学,精选23位美国南亚裔作家的作品,编目按照作家出生时间顺序进行排列。选集收录印度裔、巴基斯坦裔和斯里兰卡裔等美国南亚裔作家的作品。本书将每个章节主要包括作者简介、作品选读、作品赏析和延伸阅读书目;作品文类包括自传、小说、诗歌、散文等多种体裁,作品出版时间跨度长达近一个世纪,内容多样,风格各异,从不同层面和角度呈现美国南亚裔文学的丰富内容和历史脉络,同时也展现美国南亚裔文学的独特性和发展趋势。
美国南亚裔文学是美国亚裔文学的重要组成部分,南亚裔文学及研究与亚裔的整体生存状态相关,学术界不能忽视各个少数族裔在种族、历史、人口及政治诉求等方面的发声。国内的研究集中于华裔文学领域,对于南亚裔文学的经典作品的专题研究很少,诗歌戏剧方面的研究更是不够重视。在一带一路倡议与中国文化走出去的时代背景下,有助于推动“美国亚裔文学”研究的总体性发展。
郭英剑,中国人民大学“杰出学者”特聘教授,外国语学院教授(二级)、博士生导师。现任中国人民大学首都发展与战略研究院副院长。从2001到2020年,历任郑州大学外语学院副院长、常务副院长、中央民族大学外国语学院院长、中国人民大学外国语学院院长。主要从事英美文学、文学翻译、英语教育与高等教育研究。
国务院第八届外语学科评议组成员、教育部高校英语专业教学指导分委员会委员、享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家、国家首批“新世纪百千万人才工程”国家人选、全国模范教师。国家社科重大规划项目首席专家。

所谓“美国南亚裔文学”,是指具有南亚血统的美国人(即南亚裔)用英语创作的文学作品。这里的南亚裔包括来自印度、巴基斯坦、尼泊尔、孟加拉国、斯里兰卡、马尔代夫、不丹等七个国家(或与这些国家有关联)的人员群体及其后裔。“美国南亚裔文学”的题材不仅局限于反映南亚裔在美国的经历,还可以是关于南亚乃至世界的故事。
“美国南亚裔文学”无疑是“美国亚裔文学”版图中不可或缺的一部分,它在短时间内取得了引人注目的成绩,成为美国少数族裔文学中的佼佼者。现在,“美国南亚裔文学”已经成为观察美国社会历史与现在的一个重要平台,有助于人们了解这个国家在短暂的历史中所发生的许多重大变化,同时作为观照,也促使我们进行自我文化反思。
南亚人移居美国的历史可以追溯到 19 世纪。这一时期南亚移民中的知识分子开创了早期的南亚裔文学,代表作家有丹 · 戈帕尔 · 慕克吉、达利普 · 辛格 · 桑德和拉贾 · 劳等。丹 · 戈帕尔 · 慕克吉是美国历史上第一位成功的南亚裔作家,他在 1927 年出版的《花颈鸽,一只信鸽的传奇》是早期南亚裔文学的代表作。
“美国南亚裔文学”在第二次世界大战之后得到了长足的发展,呈现百家争鸣的繁荣景象,代表作家有巴普西 · 西德瓦、巴拉蒂 · 慕克吉、米娜 · 亚历山大、奇塔 · 蒂娃卡鲁尼、阿兰达蒂 · 洛伊和裘帕 · 拉希莉等。进入 21 世纪以来,“美国南亚裔文学”保持蓬勃发展的态势,老一代作家笔耕不辍,新一代作家佳作频现。这个时期的代表人物包括阿亚德 · 阿赫塔尔、基兰 · 德赛、卡米拉 · 夏姆斯和纳克维等。
