本书以汽车专业知识和公共英语知识为基础，以训练汽车英文文献的阅读、翻译能力为目标，知识涉及发动机机械结构、燃油系统、冷却系统、点火系统、充电系统、起动系统、变速器、转向系统、制动系统、车身电气系统，内容丰富、图文并茂、专业性强。全书分为9个单元，每个单元包括Aims and Requirements、Know the Structure、Text A、Text B、Workshop Manual、Dialogue六部分。
本书可作为高等职业院校汽车专业的教学用书，亦可作为汽车培训机构、汽车制造企业、汽车销售服务公司的技术培训用书。

吴喜骊，包头职业技术学院，车辆工程系副主任、副教授，1995,7～1998,5 呼和浩特外贸汽车修理厂，从事汽车维修、汽车故障诊断、维修质量检验等工作，任车间技术员。
1998,6～至今 包头职业技术学院车辆工程系，从事汽车专业的教学与科研工作；学院首批“双师”素质教师，汽车专业学科带头人。担任包头市金达、蒙正、精茂等3家汽车销售服务有限公司的技术顾问。
讲授过的理论课程包括：汽车构造、发动机原理、汽车理论、汽车电气设备、汽车电子技术、汽车空调、汽车专业英语、汽车维修、汽车故障诊断、汽车文化。
实践教学包括：汽车拆装、汽车电气、汽车维修等实训。
