【他相】

中国历史上一直有拜祭伟大人物的传统，为关公、大禹、黄帝、孔子等人物立庙宇，都 是民间信仰体系的重要组成部分。新中国成立至今，中国至少有十座“伟人庙”，分布在湖 南、江西、四川、广东等地。四五年间，我走访了湖南、河南、四川等地，去观看存在于 民间的不同信仰形式:湖南韶山很多民众向伟人烧香礼拜，河南南街村生活在共产大集体 中，以及漯河市王绍宇村修建了“功臣庙”......不一而足。这个作品以图像为观看介质，来 探索伟大人物在民间信仰体系中的位置、角色和功能。本作品主要通过以毛泽东像为切入 点，来体现存在于不同空间的多元信仰——关乎信仰方式本身。

“Nimitta of the Other” 

There’s always the tradition of worshiping great peoples in Chinese history. Building temples for Guan Yu, Yu the Great, Yellow Emperor, Confucius is an important part of original system of belief. Since the establishment of new China government, there are at least ten “Temples of Great People” in China, distrbuted over Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province, Sichuan Province, Guangdong Province etc. I visited Hunan Province, Henan Province, Sichuan Province etc, in four to five years’ period, viewing different forms of belief among the people. For example, there are many people burning joss sticks and worshiping great people in Shaoshan, Hunan Province, the people in Nanjie Village, Henan Province are living in Communist big collectives, and Wangshaoyu Village, Luohe City built “Temple of Heros” etc. Theses art products are trying to discover the positions, roles and functions of great peoples in original system of belief. This art product expresses multielement beliefs existing in different spaces through viewing the statue of Mao Zedong, only focusing on the belief itself without stretching to other aspects.

 周强 Zhou Qiang

周强1992年生于四川自贡，现居四川成都。获2019第七届侯登科纪实摄影奖、2017露西摄影奖。2020第十二届三影堂摄影奖、2018、2019马格南基金提名。作品曾在巴黎、纽约、日本、柏林、北京、上海、成都等地展出，并被收藏于机构和个人。

Zhou Qiang was born in 1992 in Sichuan China. Zhou started his photographic practice in 2010, and he has been doing documentary works in China ever since. As a emerging artist, Zhou’s works were exhibited in China and abroad including cities such as Paris, New York, Japan and Berlin.
