Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2018 is an exquisite representative of Burgundy's famous vineyards, a wine with deep roots in history. Originally acquired almost by chance by Philippe Drouhin's grandmother in 1953, this field is among the elite side of Grand Cru thanks to its unique location between Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. The exceptional 2018 vintage has been shaped by a family dedicated to their winemaking art, with both tradition and modern techniques in perfect balance.

Vinification
The Burgundy region, and specifically Bonnes Mares, enjoys a fabulous terroir that gives the vineyards optimal conditions for developing their unique character. The grapes for this wine were harvested in the first week of September during a generous, warm summer – earlier than ever before. The vinification process involves significant use of entire grape grades, with 25% being used in the 2018 edition to add depth and balance. Philippe Drouhin and his children, Nicolas and Charlotte, apply an elegant approach to ageing, where the wine is allowed to rest for 16 months in barrels from Allier and Nivemais, 80% of them new, without clarification or filtration, preserving the integrity of the wine.

Characteristics
This Bonnes Mares Grand Cru presents itself with an intense, ruby-red shade that almost glows in the glass. The fragrance carries a luxuriously perfumed bouquet of blackberries, blackberries and violets that elegantly blends with a rich and complex potpourri of spices created by the high proportion of new dishes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and you experience a deep fruity fullness that is both harmonious and precisely balanced, supplemented by a refreshing acid that gives a wonderful freshness. The finish is persistent, where the essence of the fruit and subtle spicy tones slowly dilute, underlining the wine’s astonishing elegance. This wine has a significant aging potential, which is expected to develop further over the coming decades.
