Founded in 1957, the Situationist International brought together theorists and artists whose goal was to put an end to class society and the dictatorship of commodities by creating situations. G. Debord’s The Society of the Spectacle and R. Vaneigem‘s A Treatise on Good Manners for the Younger Generations, both published in 1967, left a lasting mark on this generation. Drawing on a set of unpublished archives from the Paul Destribats Fonds held at the Kandinsky Library, this volume offers a renewed approach to the Situationist International based on its concrete conditions of production and circulation: correspondence, postcards, brochures, translations, letters from anonymous readers, international distribution networks, and editorial practices.
