Escudo Rojo是德语“Rote Schild” 的西班牙语翻译，意为红色的盾牌，是家族的历史象征。因此，红盾品牌体现了罗思柴尔德男爵家族对智利的承诺。

Escudo Rojo is the Spanish translation of the German term “Rote Schild,” which means red shield, the historical insignia of the family. Therefore, Escudo Rojo implies the commitment of Baron Rothschild’s family to Chile.

上世纪90年代末，法国菲利普罗思柴尔德男爵集团创始人菲利普男爵的女儿，菲利嫔女爵被智利风土潜力，以及酿造符合她严格要求的高品质品牌葡萄酒的可能性所吸引，决定在智利开始酿造葡萄酒。

In the late 1990s, Baron Philippe, the daughter of Baron Philippe, the founder of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA in France, was fascinated by Chile for its promising terroir and possibility of producing high-quality brand wines to her high requirements, and decided to make wine in Chile.

Many of its wines have received high scores from more than 90 from professional wine review media, such as James Suckling, among which Baronesa P. has been given a 97 score by James Suckling. Amschel Mayer Rothschild 1744-1812

In the late 18th century, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a Frankfurt merchant, had five sons. In 1789, after initiating them into the art of business, he decided to send four of them to the four major European capitals of the time.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild 1902-1988

Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Baron Nathaniel’s great-grandson, is only 20 years old when he took the destiny of Château Mouton Rothschild in hand, in 1922.

The man who invented château bottling, who created Mouton Cadet, the first Bordeaux wine brand, who renovated Château Mouton Rothschild, who initiated the famous labels illustrated by contemporary artists, and created the Museum of Wine in Art, his name is forever associated with the prestige and reputation of fine Bordeaux wines throughout the world.

Baroness Philippine de Rothschild 1988-2014

Baroness Philippine took over from her father in 1988, resolved to continue his life’s work. While respecting his heritage, she brought determinedly Château Mouton Rothschild and the family company into the 21st century, modernizing the facilities, expanding the product range, making sales and marketing more effective and successfully establishing operations in major winegrowing regions both in France (Languedoc) and abroad (Chile).

Baroness Philippine de Rothschild concluded a partnership agreement with the Larraín and Guilisasti families, owners of Concha y Toro, in order to create a one of the most prestigious Chilean wines called Almaviva.

Escudo Rojo is the result of the encounter between Chilean terroirs and the know-how of Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

Since its creation in 1999, it has stood as the worthy heir of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in Chile.

EXACTING REQUIREMENTS AND PRECISION to ensure consistent quality

The expertise of Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s winemakers makes Escudo Rojo a unique wine which lifts the expression of the Chilean terroir onto a  higher plane. The exacting standards applied in Chile are drawn from the company’s  experience in France. Parcel selection and the art of blending, key to the  success of Baron Philippe de Rothschild wines, are also used in Chile.The grapes are monitored regularly as they ripen, block by block, in  accordance with a precise protocol established by winemaker. It  enables the winemakers to determine the optimum harvest date for each  parcel or block corresponding to a meticulous selection of micro-terroirs.
