内容提要：  

本书的内容分成上编和下编，上编为“中国翻译理论”部分，下编为“西方翻译理论”部分。每一编中大体编辑为17个章节，每一章节涉及一位重要译家的翻译理论，每个章节的编排主体包含译学理论家的生平和翻译活动介绍、译家的重要翻译理论、后人对其译论的评价、译家的翻译实践，此外还附有课后练习和进一步阅读文献，以适应学生复习和课后学习需要。其中译者的翻译理论和思想是最重要的主体部分，这一部分强调对于译者原典的阅读，所以多是从译者的著作、序言等文献中的原文选读，让学生接触原汁原味的译家思想，而不是后人解释过的翻译理论。
