美国日裔文学作品选(美国亚裔文学研究丛书)
“美国亚裔文学研究丛书”是国内第一套最为完整的“美国亚裔文学”方面的系列丛书,由文学史、文学作品选、文学评论集、学术论著等组成。
《美国日裔文学作品选》精选了35位美国日裔作家的作品,试图描绘美国越南裔文学的整体发展脉络,并着力展现其对战争历史、文化冲突和身份建构的关注。作品选分为作者简介和作品选读两部分,选读部分一般选择的是每位作家比较重要的作品节选,涉及了多种体裁,如小说、诗歌、戏剧、传记等几大类别;作者简介主要包括作家的个人基本信息、创作经历、获奖情况、主要作品以及作品主要点评。我们希望帮助读者尽快了解作家及所选作品的中心思想与主要内容。
郭英剑,中国人民大学“杰出学者”特聘教授,外国语学院教授(二级)、博士生导师。现任中国人民大学首都发展与战略研究院副院长。从2001到2020年,历任郑州大学外语学院副院长、常务副院长、中央民族大学外国语学院院长、中国人民大学外国语学院院长。主要从事英美文学、文学翻译、英语教育与高等教育研究。
国务院第八届外语学科评议组成员、教育部高校英语专业教学指导分委员会委员、享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家、国家首批“新世纪百千万人才工程”国家人选、全国模范教师。国家社科重大规划项目首席专家。

所谓“美国日裔文学”,是指具有日本血统的美国人(即日裔)用英语创作的作品。此处的日裔,不仅包括在美国出生并在美国接受教育以及在美国出生回到日本接受教育后重返美国的本土日裔,还包括在美国领土之外出生后到达美国的移民作家(成年之后的移民者也包括在内),如卡尔 · 哈特曼、杉本钺子以及野口米次郎等一世作家。“美国日裔文学”的题材多是反映日裔在美国的生活经历,尤其是他们在第二次世界大战期间的拘留营经历。
“美国日裔文学”无疑是“美国亚裔文学”版图中不可或缺的一部分,它在一百多年的发展历程中不断壮大,成为美国少数族裔文学中的佼佼者。现在,美国日裔文学已然成为学者们了解美国社会历史,尤其是第二次世界大战期间美国社会状况的一个重要媒介。众多日裔作家在自己作品中揭露、控诉美国政府在第二次世界大战期间肆意践踏日裔公民的权利,这也促使美国社会开始反省自身。日本人移民美国始于“明治维新”(1868 年)之后,改革后的日本政府开始加强同西方发达国家的交往。为了维护自身形象,日本政府严格挑选赴美人员,
并对他们进行一定的语言及文化培训,因此相较于华人而言,这些日本移民能够更好地适应并融入美国社会。这些一世(Issei,一般指 1924 年之前移民到美洲的日本人)很多都能熟练运用英语进行创作,同时日裔社区的各种报纸和杂志也为他们的创作提供了舞台。现在我们能够看到的早期用英语创作的日裔作家包括卡尔 · 哈特曼、杉本钺子以及野口米次郎等。其中最有影响力的当属卡尔 · 哈特曼,他赢得了美国主流文学界和艺术界的认同,不仅创作了大量的英语诗歌,还将“俳句”(Haiku)这一日本诗歌形式引介给美国读者。
